Halt the Signs of Aging

All photographic media deteriorates with time. The aging process is quite evident in many of our favorite photographs from even the 1980's, which are now yellowed with age. It is vital to curb this while we can, and to protect these invaluable memories using archivally-sound methods.

the archival methodology and the digitalizing process

Photos are initially placed into archival sleeves (polyurethane pages with pockets for each picture), which are labeled with photo-safe, archival ink and placed into an album. Then, I place one page on the scanner at a time and scan each photograph at high resolution, into an archive on my hard drive. After all the photographs are scanned, I create a second folder on a separate hard drive and copy the photos to that folder. This way, the client's photos are backed up on two separate hard drives, ensuring they won't be lost. After some minimal necessary editing, I create a disk of the photographs for the client. Sometimes, clients wish to have everything saved on their own external hard drive, which they provide for me. There are a number of options for saving your photographs, such as zip drives, DVDs, web pages, and so on.

your photos are your memories

With our friends and family members being linked to us via email and social media networks, we are able to share our memories with loved ones now, more than ever. What better way to share a memory than by sending a photo along with an email? Plus, you will be able to pass on both the originals and the digital copies of your memories and keepsakes to the coming generations. And with the photographic slideshows I create you can make your graduation parties, rehearsal dinners or family reunions really special.
